Speculations Explanation
SHORT VERSION — Me and a guest are required to explain a topic chosen by our audience that we know almost nothing about. We get critiqued by an expert who sets the record straight and brings much-needed clarification, oftentimes with sternly worded notes. Listeners get a show syllabus with every show. Send me topics.
LONG VERSION — Me and a guest are given a prompt—challenged to explain a thing we don’t know much about. We have 5 minutes to try and prepare explanations or answers—trying to identify something that’s true about our prompt. No research, only hand-written notes. 5 minutes is up.
We hit record and educatedly guess for ~10 min, building on each other’s ideas, humbling realizations, and lucky guesses. An expert then critiques our speculations, sets the record straight, and drops syllabi in the episode notes. Listeners get a show syllabus.
